Overview
Monad is a Layer 1 blockchain project that uses Monad BFT as its consensus algorithm. Leveraging technical features such as Monad BFT, parallel execution, and Monad DB, Monad aims to deliver throughput of up to 10,000 transactions per second (TPS) with sub-second block finality.
Monad BFT is a leader-based, round-structured consensus algorithm in which each round consists of a leader proposing a new block and validators voting on it. Based on the voting results, a proof of validity is issued, and to improve efficiency, block proposals are continuously pipelined across rounds.
The MON token is used for transaction fee payments and staking on the Monad network.
