Bitcoin Gold (BTG) is a digital asset that was separated from the Bitcoin network through a hard fork in 2017, designed to enhance mining decentralization and provide mining opportunities to a broader range of users. Unlike Bitcoin, which relies heavily on ASIC mining equipment, Bitcoin Gold adopts the Equihash algorithm to enable GPU-based mining, fostering a more accessible and fair mining environment. While maintaining Bitcoin’s core principles of decentralization and security, BTG emphasizes usability as a digital payment method by supporting efficient transaction processing and network scalability.
