Overview
Convex Finance is a yield farming protocol designed to maximize returns for liquidity providers (LPs) on Curve Finance, a decentralized finance protocol. Curve liquidity providers can earn higher yields without locking up Curve (CRV) tokens, and Convex lowers the barrier to entry by minimizing deposit and withdrawal fees charged on the platform. Convex supports two primary deposit routes. First, CRV holders can deposit their CRV via Convex’s staking feature and receive an equal amount of cvxCRV as a receipt token. The deposited CRV is permanently deposited into Curve Finance and converted into veCRV, which is used to boost the rewards of LP token holders who provide liquidity through Convex. Users who hold and stake cvxCRV receive staking yields generated from veCRV in the form of CRV and 3CRV, and additionally earn Convex’s native token, CVX. They may also become eligible to receive veCRV-based airdropped tokens.
