Overview
EigenLayer is a restaking protocol that introduces a new security mechanism to the Ethereum ecosystem. Through EigenLayer, users can reuse their Ethereum staking assets across multiple services—not just a single network—to enhance economic security and earn additional rewards. EIGEN is the utility cryptoasset of the EigenLayer ecosystem and is used for staking AVSs (as of September 2024, EigenDA), securing the network, and serving as collateral for token forks.
