Holo provides blockchain application developers with decentralized app hosting infrastructure and a marketplace for trading computing resources. The process works as follows: users who want to provide hosting resources install and run Holo software or purchase a HoloPort and connect it to their computer. When an app developer buys hosting capacity through the Holo marketplace, the Holo software running on the user’s device assesses the amount of available spare computing resources. If excess capacity is detected, it supplies the developer with the required storage and compute resources. All resource-provision records are stored via Holochain, and the app developer pays users based on these records. HOT is an Ethereum-based token, and it can be exchanged 1:1 for HoloFuel starting six months after the Holo mainnet launch. HoloFuel is the base currency used within the Holo platform to purchase hosting resources, and it is also used as a payment method in Holochain-based applications.
