Overview
LayerZero (ZRO) is a cross-chain messaging protocol designed to enable interoperability between blockchains. Omnichain Applications are smart contracts enhanced to interact with the LayerZero protocol, communicating with LayerZero endpoints to send cross-chain messages. Messages generated by Omnichain Applications are verified through the Decentralized Verifier Network (DVN). The digital asset ZRO is used for cross-chain gas fees, as a means of payment within the protocol, and for participation in governance.
