Overview
Toncoin (TON) is a Layer 1 blockchain project that originated from Telegram, an instant messaging service, and serves as a decentralized and open internet platform with high-speed transactions and strong scalability. TON is used within the ecosystem for paying transaction fees, purchasing domains, participating in governance, paying dApp fees, and staking to become a validator on the TON network. Users in the TON ecosystem can experience ultra-fast, transaction-based services such as payments and asset transfers, as well as TON Proxy, DNS, storage, and browsing services. In addition, since 2023, TON has also been usable for Telegram Premium payments, further expanding its utility and potential use cases.
