Overview
Zama (ZAMA) is a cross-chain confidentiality layer protocol that enables confidential smart contracts on existing L1 and L2 blockchains using Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), allowing on-chain data to remain encrypted even during computation. Rather than a new chain, it operates as a protocol layer on top of existing networks, supporting confidential DeFi, RWA tokenization, payments, and governance applications. ZAMA is the native token used for protocol fees and operator staking rewards, following a burn-and-mint model.
